I'm trawling through the potential options with Bukkit and it's plugins. one easy option is that people will spawn in their 'homes' instead of the spawn point.
Seems like a good idea to me, what do you think?

Definately for when the game goes 'live' (as in, we've done all the building and what-not and people are actually 'playing') but do we need it in the building process?

Oh god no not yet, it's not necessary. Most of the stuff i have found is for future developments.
